Fragile belongings need more than a label on the box. The right materials, packing order and handling plan can reduce movement inside cartons and make unpacking easier after a Sydney house move.

Choose suitable packing materials

Use strong cartons that can close securely. Gather packing paper, bubble protection where appropriate, dividers, tape and a marker. Avoid overloading large boxes with heavy fragile items.

Pack plates, glasses and ceramics carefully

Wrap each item separately. Plates are generally safer packed upright rather than stacked flat. Fill empty spaces so items cannot shift, but do not compress delicate pieces. Use divided cartons for glassware where available.

Protect mirrors and framed artwork

Use corner protection and suitable wrapping, then place frames in appropriately sized cartons. Mark the orientation and keep heavy objects away from glass surfaces. Large or valuable pieces may require specialised packing.

Handle electronics thoughtfully

Back up important data and photograph cable connections before disconnecting equipment. Original packaging is useful when it remains in good condition; otherwise use a sturdy box with adequate cushioning. Keep accessories labelled with the correct device.

Label for safer handling

Write the destination room and a clear fragile notice on more than one side. Keep an inventory of valuable items and carry irreplaceable documents or small valuables personally.

Make moving day easier

Tell the moving team which cartons require special care and keep them away from high-traffic areas. Learn about our packing and unpacking services or contact S Singh Movers.
